10 Kilometres. yep 1/2 way home from 100K service and dropped the belt as the pulley slumped from a collapsed WP bearing. You wouldn't f**ing read about it Obviously I've been unlucky, but unluckily I'm unlucky so often. Ironically, I asked Eric to do the 100K service early as preventative maintenance, due to the engine already being out of the car. Unfortunately I got the water pump that was assembled at 4:55pm on a Friday arvo And just in case anyone mis-reads the thread, this obviously has no bearing on Eric's work, it's just the 1 in 100 chance with the water pump. So, not every Nissan water pump meets quality control, as I know we are always weary of non genuine water pumps in these major services.
Got just the fix for you- Some Chrome Plated Bonnet Hinges Do the job right, believe in preventative maintenance, and STILL it comes back to bite you in the ar$e. Very much liking the note it put out tho. Reverberating against the workshop wall, with the CRC mist... there was movement at the station
jeez, Pex .... that is crazy .... king of no luck ... !!!! did the pump come in a kit or purchased separately ... ???? Mr Nissan has something to answer for ...
your car look like my car pex . even when mine is on tow ,lol yeah its shit me when things like this happen.. 10 ks and gone , thats no good
Damn, I was proud of my waterpump early retirement record, until I read yours. Though Ive had two brand new OEM water pumps fail within a year of each other! But on a show car, implying roughly 400ks before seal failure or bearing siezed. (Belts were not overtightened) Interestingly these problematic Nissan pumps had suttle differances in bearings and markings. Well, the third replacment pump was installed last week - this time I decided to accomplish the installation task myself. Though fingers are forever crossed!
Damn Your having all the luck Greg. Give it a few minutes, i'm sure someone will be able to turn the blame Rob260 and UAS's way for another group buy gone wrong.
No kit Baz, I buy all my 100k bits through various suppliers probably similar to the kits Rob was putting together a while ago. Things like bearings and seals you can get much cheaper than Nissan prices for the same brand. Water pumps are something I buy from Nissan locally, glad I do as getting a warranty claim through CZP is a pita. And if only lasting a few k's wasn't bad enough, they have no more in stock and have to get one up from Melbourne
