Sooo hello everyone...

My engine has just blown and apart from being rather dissapointed and annoyed I now have to find a means of replacing it.. Currently I have a NA auto 1990 Z and I want to convert it to a TT manual...This hopefully will be a build thread that I will update as I undertake this conversion.

Just to Fill you in on how the engine blew I was driving my car fairly hard and probably made it shit itself...and now Its knocking like a bitch and instead of racking up a ridicoulous repair bill on an NA motor I've decided to convert it instead..

Will be updating pictures and thread soon as i take out engine...

so far ive collected
vh45 de
gt42 turbo
os giken twin plate clutch
just ordered a mazworxs adapter and on that if any one else wants to buy one they list the postage as $460 but if you ask they do it for $98 .

it all looks relatively straight forwards except the exhaust manifolds which look very hard but thats where its going straight to the exhaust shop .

im hoping to run about 12 psi through it but we will have to wait and see how it goes on the dyno

up for sale soon will be my tt engine and arc side mount coolers

Ok, so im rebuilding my Z i thought id post a thread and gradually update it. Im getting pictures tomorrow, so ill post them up when i get them.

I was thinking of "quickly" inserting some new speakers into my boot today so i took my boot apart only to find that i have Bose speaker boxes that only fit 5" speakers. YAY - not. Heres me with a 7x10 pioneer in one hand, and a clenched fist in the other when i realise that im going to have to make a custom boot layout incorperating the side panels.

but oh it got better, not only did i not have the origonal Bose speakers, i had cardboard commodore origonal equivelants, not plugged into the small amps and bose wires, but a cable run loosely through the under neath of the car, in no specific order, to the speaker wedged between the mounting bracket.

which leads me to think that the door panel speakers will be much the same. to my disgust.:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

So when i have finished creating a custom boot layout for my speakers if anyone wants to buy 2 perfect condition bose boxes (with or without the official mini amps) (i know theres alot of people wanting them) then feel free to contact me. (itll take me a while to get this done so dont expect it to be anytime soon)

So all up im pretty dissapointed with my sound system currently in the car. it makes me cry someone would even think of doing what has been done.

I think the first thing that i will do, is source some custom speaker boxes so i can fit bigger speakers the mould in some subs in the corners. that way i can still put the targa roof in the boot when needed. Also mount the amps on the platform behind the seats. after ive done all this and made it looks spiffy, ill move onto trim.

will update later with pics/ more info. cheers if u read this far lol.

Another VH45 build, with extras :D

I bought Anton's unfinished VH45 project a few months ago, came with a transmission adapter plate for the Z32 gearbox and spliced VH45ECU->Z32 loom, along with some goodies like a Davies Craig electric water pump. Oh and the VH45 ECU is already Nistuned as well.

Already started this Tuesday, got the old motor and gearbox out... all thanks to Aidan (awegazm). Took only 5 hours to pull everything! That's pretty damn fast :D So thanks to him, way ahead of schedule now :)

Goal is to get the conversion engineered and pass pits with all OEM gear (ECU, headers, etc) as it is a condition of my modification approval from the Dept of Planning and Infrastructure... then after that the fun will come.

Right now we are ready to test fit the engine with gearbox in the zed, design the subframe-side engine mounts. While the mounts and flywheel spacer are being cut we'll use the time to refresh the engine, replace hoses etc. possibly get an oil filter relocation kit as well.

Parts I have/ordered:
-ASI 56mm ally rad for TT
-Davies Craig electric water pump
-Magnaflow high flow cats x2
-Magnaflow 14862 mufflers x2
-Z1 lightweight 1-piece steel driveshaft
-Z1 forged 4140 chromoly flywheel (lightest one you can get - 4.22kg)

Upgrades after everything's nice and legal:
-2.5"OD S/S piping and bends for exhaust & headers
-Z34 spec Akebono front calipers
-Racing Logic UltraComplex 8kg/6kg
-VarrsToen ES 19x9.5+2 / 19x10.5+22
-slightly pumped guards & guard lining trimmed
-Adjustable front upper controls, castor rods, tension rods, traction rods, etc etc
-R33 GTS-T full face clutch with a higher clamp load for my NA gearbox
-half cage

FUTURE PLANS!
-block bored out to 5.0L
-Individual Throttle Bodies (Extrudabody kit?)
-big lumpy cams
-upgraded valve springs
-12.0:1 compression forged pistons (will I run into problems with such a high compression? discuss!)

This stuff will come later down the track... hoping to get it to rev high reliably (8000+rpm) and make close to 400rwhp. Will be a lot of work though!

Photos so far! Nothing too exciting yet ;)
I'll update as I make some signifcant progress... won't be able to work on it again til next weekend unfortunately:zlove:

Hey guys, this is my thread for my complete re-build. This will not be a short topic. It will probably take me 2 or 3 years to get anywhere near what I want, but thats life, right?

Lets start with the basics: My car is a 1990 NA J-spec (Manual). Her name is Shene (Shen-ay), which also happens to be my girlfriends name. Its not a rude joke, its actually quite the opposite. I named it after her so I can be with her even when im not...shuddup :D

This is her now: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...8&l=cdaf258147

Her future, however, is quite different to this. These are my big plans:

> Turbo Conversion: Keeping the NA motor, and slapping on some turbos. Stock turbos to begin with, then some maybe one day down the track some real serious firepower.
> Body Kit: Gonna modify a veilside bodykit to be completely custom and original.
> Scissor doors: Because they are fricking awesome, k?
> Stereo: Lets face it...it needs an overhaul.
> Interior Trim: Goodbye tweed, Hello bright red faux leather. Gonna do the door trim, the dash, back seat, targa sides and maybe even the pillars. Ooh, and my sub box.
> Interface: Going for a completely custom dash, same setup, but ALL gauges replaced. Also gonna chuck some gauges on the pillar.
> Seats: Racing...dur...
> Paint: Fun stuff that. Trying to go to a lighter metallic red minus the massive cost. Gonna have full length tribal flame decals down the side in contrasting shades of red and orange, with black outlines.
> Nose Panel: Vented, naturally.
> Lighting: Red neons inside, wired to the lights. Red undercars and grill lights outside.
> Engine: Heres the real fun. Gonna go turbo, lightened everything, performance brakes, a new look for the engine and twin dual exhaust.
> Tires/Wheels: Something good.
> Tail Lights: Close to stock, but smoked and custom.

If you can offer any parts, advice or help let me know. As I do each thing i will update this thread, and hopefully one day my car will be REBORN.

Hey all,

thought i would stop being lazy and post my car up. it all started with this

.
Sorry about the small pic. It had these tail lights
:vomit:
sorry not a big fan, It's a 1989 TT auto, it had 18" by 7s all round, a single 3" cat back system.

A Sony DVD player head unit with 2 kicker amps in the boot, one for the 12" sub and the other for the kicker splits in the front.

.

The first thing i had to buy was the tail lights so went and got some stock ones :D i don't have many pictures of it when i first bought it i lost them when i moved house:(. After i got the lights i went and got my wheels back and put them on
.

all was going good till i overheated it :bash: so it all started then.
i started with a paint job and a body kit.

and then its finished (painted) so i thought anyway!!
.

As the weeks went on i started to sort out what to buy to fix the motor anyway i took the heads of and sent them of to get reconditioned and while that was happening i pulled the rest of the motor out and started cleaning everything.

then i got the heads back then the work started all i did was get the heads fixed and put it back together im not made of money :(

Its all back in and going after a few little problems so its all going now and ready to cruise. so after all that i went and bought a alloy radiator, coilovers, new temp gauge to put next to my boost gauge

in between all of that i took my car to work to put a blue pearl over the purple and clear coat it again

so here it is all finished apart from a few little things.:D:D:D

General info:
1993 - Silver - Manual - Targa - NA - 2+0

My plans for this car are well underway now, i have purchased 3m's 180 series vinyl in.....Matte Black! So far i have done a few test pieces here and there, then i moved to the fuel filler piece then the nose panel (see pics).

Before

So day 1 has been a success. I hope to have the wrapping done in 2 weeks.
This method is also advantageous because when i buy new body bits its a couple hours and a little piece of material to get it perfect rather than a spray.

So if you dont like matte black or if you dont like car wraps, dont bother telling me..this car is for me and my enjoyment and im sharing it with you guys. If so i hope you can still appreciate the uniqueness :)

Although, all constructive criticism and tips/ideas/thoughts/praise are all welcome.

Many thanks,

Hi folks,

I thought I'd start a thread detailing work currently being done on my Z. She started blowing smoke from the engine bay as I was driving home from work (after giving it a bit of throttle) and I immediately had her towed to Unique Auto Sports. Compression test results were initially good, but the team uncovered the dreaded knock-knock-knock-of-death that these forums have laid witness to in the past - as it turns out, the engine had suffered big end bearing damage. John at Unique gave me a call not long after this discovery, and though I did wince when I heard the news, I quickly found that this was a blessing in disguise. I had delayed too many plans to get her in good shape for the odd track day, that I'd forgotten how much she meant to me.

In any event, what follows is a continuing pictorial log of work being done on this once-tamed beast. The aim was for a streetable car with enough finesse for the tracks. At the heart of the project was a UAS-built VG30DETT: ACL forged pistons, ACL race bearings, UAS valve springs, Full head service - machined and balanced, New oil pump, New water pump, New head and main bolts; accompanied by Nismo 555cc injectors, a GT28RS turbo kit and dump pipes, ported/extrusion-honed exhaust manifolds, 25-row oil cooler (at SMIC location), Turbosmart plumb-back BOVs.

Further modifications will be added to this thread as they occur.
